Many people try to treat weight problems with faddish crash diets. Others attempt a quick fix with unproven drugs and questionable herbal remedies. These methods can be dangerous and usually offer only short-lived success. There is no substitute for a sensible diet and exercise program. Weight Control and Longevity Center uses a multi-model program (including behavior modification, exercise, diet and medication if indicated) tailored to the personal needs of the individual patient. This is the only successful means of obtaining long term control of obesity / overweight and eating disorders. We treat all related aspects of these disorders as well as casual weight control and nutritional disease. Your Initial Visit Eating disorders are frequently accompanied by serious medical conditions including gout, dyslipidemias (cholesterol and triglycerides) heart disease, diabetes, fertility, sleep disturbance and insulin resistance. Only the doctor is qualified to diagnose and treat these problems hence the need for a through physical and diagnostic testing. Nutritional and obesity management is vitally important in the proper treatment of any serious medical condition. Diagnosis and treatment today may prevent serious disability and premature death tomorrow. TreatmentNutritional management goes hand in hand with a realistic exercise program. The Doctor will prescribe exercise based on your personal capacity for physical activity. Daily exercise in small yet vigorous amounts is far more effective and healthful than sporadic heavy exercise. At times, the Doctor may prescribe medication as part of your treatment if indicated. Not all patients are eligible for medication in their treatment. Only the physician is qualified and legally abel to prescribe drug therapy as part of your treatment. Extensive medical research has determined that certain medications can be very effective when combined with a sound treatment program, but only when supervised and strictly controlled by specially trained physicians. During the first stage of your program, weekly check ups are needed to measure your progress. The visit after having started the program is based on possible changes and adjustments that the doctor considers are necessary to the success of the program. Depending on the medical criteria the doctor will discuss your checkup frequency. Small blood works may be periodically required which is ordered by the doctor as part of your detailed monitoring. Body Composition Analysis will be performed as needed for determining the progress and the changes of the program. Functional Intracellular Analysis FIA™The patented FIA™ measures the intracellular function of selected vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and other essential micronutrients within your white blood cells (lymphocytes). Current standard serum micronuitrient tests reflect an individual's nutrient intake over a relatively narrow window of time. The results are often biased by many factors, especially by food eaten during the few days preceding the test, allowing potential long-term deficiencies to be missed. Lose Weight, Be Healthy!
